Bengaluru: BJP State President and former Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddiyurappa released the party’s state manifesto here, in the presence of prominent ministers including MP Prakash Javadekar. The manifesto has been prepared keeping farmer welfare in mind; it has been decided to waive debts on agricultural loans up to one lakh rupees taken from both, national banks and co-operative banks.
The manifesto states that BJP is committed to reduce the burden of farmers who are suffering under heavy debts against the loans they have availed. Speaking at the release, Yediyurappa has said that the party intended to launch various water distribution schemes worth 15,000 crore rupees to make water available across the entire state. Besides, 3000-crore Kamdhenu Fund will also be introduced for animal husbandry and dairy development while another 1000 crore rupees has been allotted for veterinary services.
The former chief minister also said that over and above these schemes, scholarships will be provided for the children of farmers. The manifesto also includes the re-implementation of 2012’s bill on slaughter ban.
