Fire broke out in a hotel in Delhi;

53 year old Jayasree among the 13 member team from Kochi was killed. It is reported that the body of Jayasree has been identified by her brother. She was a resident of Chotanikkara.

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at Arpit Palace Hotel in Karol Bagh, Central Delhi. Nine people killed including 53 year old Jayasree from Kerala. She was among the 13 member team from Kochi. It is reported that the body of Jayasree has been identified by her brother. She was a resident of Chotanikkara.

Nalini Amma and Vidyasagar are still reported to be missing. The 13-member team had reached Delhi for a wedding ceremony. The rest 10 people in the group are reported to be safe.

The fire broke out at four in the morning. The fire was brought under control by 26 fire engines. Out of the 48 rooms in the 5 storeyed building, 40 rooms were occupied. The inmates of the hotel were sleeping at the time of accident. This caused in the rise of death toll.

Three persons were injured in the accident. Reportedly 35 people were rescued. Police said that inhalation of smoke caused the death. Two persons who jumped off the building to escape fire succumbed to injuries. The accident site in Karol Bagh is a tourist spot.
